Blogging Woes

With the recent announcement of Google Reader going away I've been feeling really sad about my blogging life.

Let's be honest here. I don't have a huge following already, and the thought that I would lose readers makes me think that my little blog will disappear.
I've so loved blogging, and I've loved reading other mommy's blogs as well.
But I'm just not sure how to continue writing here.
In fact, I'm sure I will have very few views on this post.
I totally understand that's the ebb and flow of blogging. I want to make my writing mean something, and it may have transitioned a bit now that I've been writing for StartMarriageRight.com.

I am trying to remember what it is that I love about blogging and I am reminded of posts like these here, here, herehere. and here. These are not even close to my most popular posts.
These are my posts on who I am: a mommy, a wife, a follower of Jesus. That is why I blog. Not for readership.

I love my readers, I love my comments, and I love my fellow bloggers. But that's not what this is about. This is a place for me to remember the little things. The small things like going to a soccer game as a family. I am blessed to have this. I won't just stop writing because I might lose people who read it.
I write for my family, and lets be honest…I write to remember these fleeting days.

So I'll stick with it as long as I can. And if you enjoy reading Life Unexpected you can always follow me over at Bloglovin, as that is how I will be following all of my favs.

  1. Keep blogging on who you are! Some of us love those kinds of posts! Although your SMR articles are great as well :)

  2. well said. the important part of blogging is to have your own space to write down what moves you and to keep for memories. i felt similar to the change but i think it will be good in the long run. bloglovin makes it easy to import all the blogs we currently read from google reader to bloglovin. that's what i did with mine, so i didn't lose any of my daily reads!

  5. I already follow you on bloglovin'. I completely get what you said though. I blog for me, but I do like connecting with other bloggers. It provides me the socialization that I'm sometimes not capable of fitting into my normal day. There are days that I feel like I'm alone in my blog world....but those are the days that I remind myself that I like writing even if no one wants to read it. If they do read then it's a bonus.

  7. I enjoy your blog posts, so I'm glad you're going to keep up...at least for now. :-) I switched all my blogs over to feedly. It's taking a little bit of time to get used to how it's different from Google reader. However, it was very easy to transfer over to feedly from Google reader. :-)
